The 4 essential pillars to build a sucessful business

Over the weekend i happened to attend an event where Dr.Beatrice Kathungu , a lecturer Kenyatta university was the chief guest. She gave a talk on the how to succeed in life, business and on achieving greater things in life.I could not stop to marvel of her accomplishments and how far she has come from. She is a perfect example of a woman warrior.
Today as i revisited my old valuable newspaper articles,i come upon the Financial post post dating back Jan 2012.They had featured the story of Maithya and Wambua the founder and owners of mavuno automasters reading through their story i realized the key to their success was application of some of the things she had talked about.

The 4 things common in all successful stories are;

1.Aspiration.
Before you start a business, you should have a clear dream accompanied by a burning desire to succeed; you should have achievable dreams.Unfortunately many start business as a formality,to escape the formal employment or just to boost their goals and lack the willingness to work.
For you to succeed you should have a long term plan that is broken down to short terms plans with a clear precise strategies and plans on how to achieve them.

 2. Inspiration.
In business, discouragement, competition and failures are invertible, unless you disregard them through inspiration you will give up easily. This entails looking for someone or something to give you a reason to succeed.
You can get inspiration from a role model or mentor that you can share with about the challenges, taking time to learn about successful business and people, reading about someone you hate especially politician and dictators, you might be surprised how they rose to power.

3. Perspiration.
You should be prepared to work tirelessly and put all your efforts to achieve your business goals. Be ready to sweat and give up the luxuries of life in quest for the success.
Being a business owner is more demanding than being an employee; successful entrepreneurs  will be the first to arrive in the office and last to leave always fighting for their dreams. Do your research and you will be surprised that majority of entrepreneurs who failed  never perspired to their level best.

4. Desperation.
In business you should be positively desperate,a desperate person will go to any extend to quench his urge.Likewise in business you should be desperate to achieve your dreams,to sell those products,to get that funding.
When you are positively desperate you will have that inner motivation to push on and prove your critics wrong. You wont need anyone to wake you in the morning,to remind where conferences and other business functions are happening.

Its time to move your business to the next level or put those dreams and aspiration to actions and these "RATIONS" are crucial to your success.

Is multilevel marketing really worth the hate?

Mention G.N.L.D ,Tianshi,F.L.P  to Kenyans and not many will give you a 2nd chance. Welcome to the world of network marketing. According to Wikipedia,M.L.M refers to a marketing strategy in which the sales force is compensated not only for their personal sales but also for the sales of their down-lines.

Some members of the millionaires and billionaires club like Donald Triumph,Robert T Kiyosaki among others describe network marketing as a business of the 21st century, though am not sure hif they truly mean that.
Many fall simply because most M.L.M portray their opportunities as jobs rather than investments. This led to people devoting much of their energy with a hope of a regular pay at the end of month instead of investing and coming up with strategies for long term benefits.

No matter how people take them, they have positives.Below are some of their benefits:

  1. Personal development: they emphasize on the importance of personal development to its distributors. You are able to gain skills such as communication, leadership, negotiation advertising and marketing skills.
  2.  They provide the best avenue for one to learn how to run a business, because when you register you start your own company inside a big company. Its less risky since its a small business backed by a big one.
  3. There are no employees as you are all partners with the company:that is you are a network of independent business owners working together towards a common goal.
  4. Freedom and lifestyle because when you have a productive network, you will be able to live and enjoy the lifestyle of rich and famous.
  5. International business:you are allowed to operate globally because most companies allows their distributors to sponsor in different countries.
  6. High income potential if you find a good company and play by the rules, here are some of the success stories.
  7. Finally, its the best place to learn work ethics.
Unfortunately they have their negatives that bring out the hatred that many associate them with, they include:
  1. They are based on the model of pyramid scheme thus have a high probability of collapsing, like in case if the top partners decide to withdraw it can easily collapse.
  2. It is a deceptive marketing that plays upon the treasured cultural beliefs, social and personal needs and some economical trends rather than meet any customer needs"THEY PUSH PRODUCTS TO CONSUMERS"
  3. As investments demand, you have to invest a lot at first before you start earning. That is you have to pay for registration, purchasing training kit e.t.c
  4. They make an individual one sided because they teach you to look at everyone as a prospect.
Being one of the "victim',my advice is simple:if you want to join be very careful, take M.L.M as investments and do solid research on the company to join.To the employed its a wonderful chance to get encouragement to be able to keep up with the challenges you encounter in job, business and in social affairs. To the students it gives you a positive way to view life.If you feel like to want to give it a trial here are some of the companies,M.L.M companies

Do you know your personality?

Beyond our known personal identity,we manifest certain traits and characteristics that we barely recognize from within ourselves. It is important to know your personality and get in touch with the real identity because your personality defines your character.

Personality is the assemblage of qualities or characteristics which makes a person distinctive individual. Some benefits of knowing your personality are:
  • Help you choose a career path that is satisfying.
  • Accepting yourself and feeling good about who you are.
  • Identify your natural strengths and weakness.
  • Help you understand people and develop better relationships.
Unfortunately majority especially the youth do not clearly understand themselves. I am going to share briefly on the 4 main personality types.

  1. Choleric personality.

They are born leaders with a commanding personality and a business mind. They love stocks, investments and are constantly looking for opportunities.
They are sizzling, quick, active, practical, strong willed, confident, tough minded and possess great problem solving skills.
Their weakness are they are bossy, impatient, quick tempered, enjoy argument, rude, too demanding and manipulative.
They are ideal for professions that require leadership, motivation and results. i.e Engineering,Geometry etc.

    2. Sanguine personality.

They interact with their environment to make it more playful, relaxing, accommodating and like the luxuries of life, talk of designer clothes, accessories, sports cars and they know better(you now understand where our brothers and sisters from the lake belong)
They are cheerful and curious, wide eyed, innocent and hardly hold grudges. They are creative, colorful and often look great.
They are disorganized, have poor memory especially for names, decisions are based on feelings, procrastinate.
They are ideal for professions like entertainers, sales and marketing, preachers, hospital workers among others.

    3.Phlegmatic personality.

They are easy-going,calm,slow to anger and likeable. They genuinely like people, respect others and have a dry sense of humor.
They  co-operative,considerable,charitable,sympathetic, trusting, easy going, cool and calm. They are the best children to their parents, well behaved in school and well organized.
Their weakness include insecure, sarcastic, not self motivate, resists change.
They do well in professions like administration, military, education, counseling, civil service, technology specialists.

    4.Melancholic personality.

They are perfectionists who are highly gifted. They have high intelligence quotient(IQ),great creativity and imagination.Have a serious, thoughtful, philosophical and mystical countenance.
They enjoy making definite plans, keeping schedule, are very accurate en love routines. They pay attention to details thus remember special dates, anniversaries and events, are proud of their achievements to the extend of displaying their trophies, medals etc
They put goals beyond reach, hard to please, unforgiven, deep need of approval are some of their weakness.
Perfection for obstacles and dangers makes melancholic personality type reluctant to initiate new projects.
They tend to choose careers that require high imagination, intellectual depth, creativity, analysis and perfection e.g scientists, surgeons, accountants, professors, artisans, philosophers among others

hope by now you have identified the category you fall in,however you should know that no individual completely belongs in one category, rather most have a combination of two dominant personalities. Most musicians are sanguine-melancholic since music requires creativity and energetic individuals. To the aspiring entrepreneurs i hope you know understand your position and the traits to look for when looking for talent.
